What is ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely fine (and completely sterile) stainless-steel single-use needles into specific access points on the body to regulate the flow of ‘Qi’, our vital energy.
Strong emotions, stress, environmental toxins, injuries, viral infections, poor nutrition can cause the Qi to become depleted or blocked, leading to pain or illness.
Acupuncture needles help restore the Qi to a balanced flow, thereby triggering a natural healing response, as well as inducing a state of relaxation and a sense of well-being.

Acupuncture has been demonstrated to reduce activity in the parts of the brain associated with the perception of pain and increase activity in brain areas associated with improved self-regulation. A number of other biochemicals involved in pain reduction have been found to be released by acupuncture needle stimulation, including ATP, adenosine, and GABA.
Acupuncture has direct effect on the central nervous system. These include spinal reflex effects, where acupuncture stimulates muscle relaxation and blood flow into visceral organs. In the brain, acupuncture improves the regulation of the hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenal axis, the primary systems that the body uses for regulating hormones and the physiological stress response. Additionally, acupuncture modulates parasympathetic activity, the branch of the nervous system associated with rest, relaxation, digestion and tissue healing |
What to expect
At the initial consultation and treatment, we will discuss the reasons you are seeking acupuncture and your expectations. You will also be asked about you general health, medical history, diet, sleep habits, emotional state and general wellbeing. If you have any blood or functional test done recently, we might discuss this either. I will ask you to show me your tongue, and will check your pulse. Afterwards, using Chinese Medicine diagnosis methods, I will explain my thoughts about the imbalances or deficiencies of your body-mind-emotions possibly causing your present health issues. The acupuncture treatment itself takes around 30min. The stillness your will be in while lying with acupuncture needles will put you into deep relaxation and thoughtless state. That will the best 30min spend in your day! After the treatment, we will discuss how many treatments you need to achieve positive outcomes. Acupuncture is a natural healing practice, and consistency is the key to reach long-lasting results. |
